We have worked with place value for several days. For this activity, students worked with a partner to figure out the mystery of the "Jumbled Up Grade Book." This mystery centered around place value and using the clues to find the correct grade book scores. Students looked for the person with the most "changed" scores. The one with the most changed scores was the guilty one. He or she was responsible for jumbling up the grade book.

Place Value Mix Up
Place Value Mix UpStudents were given an envelope with a lot of numbers jumbled up. They had to show that they knew the value of each number. Many of the numbers in the envelope were repeated across place values ex: 2, 20 , 200, 20,000 The students had to find the correct values and represent the larger number using expanded form. They did a great job with this!![]() |

First Day of School!
Today we got settled in and began organizing our journals and STAR folder. We played a few "Get to Know You" games in class and worked on an inquiry/problem solving activity called, "Save Fred". Students worked with a partner to help Fred the worm. Fred's boat had capsized leaving Fred stranded without his life preserver. Students had to help Fred get into his life preserver without touching anything! They could use ONLY the four paperclips to help Fred get into his preserver.

Welcome Students
Welcome to Mrs. Jones' Class! I am so looking forward to meeting you.
We have many activities planned this year.
Here is a little about me:
I have been teaching for fifteen years. I have two children, Becca (15) and Davis (9). My husband, Buzz, and I have been married for twenty-three years. We live in the heart of Boiling Springs and love our community. Our family is active at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church.
This summer I vacationed at Garden City, S.C. and St. Augustine, Florida. I love playing in the ocean especially riding the waves. I cannot wait to hear about your summer.
